Description

Andean culture that dominated the Peruvian highlands between the 7th and 10th centuries. Their tapestry textiles with geometric figures and polychrome deities represent the apex of pre-Columbian textile art. The Wari Empire established the first expansionist state in the Andes, foreshadowing the imperial organisation later adopted by the Incas.
