Description
This 14th-century visual collection integrates a selection of engravings, codex illustrations, portolan charts, and reproductions of late medieval sacred art. The catalog documents the aesthetic landscape of the Iberian Peninsula and of Mesoamerican and Andean civilizations during a period of cultural consolidation prior to the transatlantic encounter. Through Gothic iconography and symbolic vestiges, the complexity of a world in transition is illustrated. Its relevance lies in offering a graphic testimony of the historical roots and the plastic diversity that defined the horizon prior to the formation of the Hispanic-American space.
