Description

Rubén Darío (1867–1916), the Nicaraguan poet and founder of literary Modernismo in the Spanish language, renewed Hispanic poetry with Azul… (1888) and Prosas profanas (1896). A diplomat, journalist, and traveler between París, Madrid, and Buenos Aires, his portrait and visual documents bear witness to a life that transformed Spanish-language literature on both sides of the Atlantic.
