Notation on verso: "Comandante Faure Chomón (1959)"; Chomón was a leader of the Directorio Revolucionario in exile after José Echeverría's death in 1958. He fought with the Escambray guerrillas and after the triumph of the Revolution he was nominated ambassador to the Soviet Union.
