Artista: No identificado
Siglo XVI · México
Colección: Códice Osuna
This page from the Códice Osuna, an important source for the study of 16th-century colonial administration, illustrates a system of tribute and offerings with pictographic representations and Nahua glyphs. Elements symbolizing units of measurement and the nature of payments are distinguishable, as well as human figures and a lunar calendar. The work combines Mesoamerican pictographic tradition with alphabetic writing and Spanish documentary style.
