Description

From viceregal mysticism to portraiture of the XIX century, the female presence articulates the discourses of power and devotion in Ibero-America. Between the XVI and XIX centuries, these works transit from the sacredness of the altar to the intimacy of the courts. Thus emerges a metamorphosis of the sacred symbol into civil identity.
