Chimú Culture

Description

The Kingdom of Chimor, with its capital at Chan Chan, was the greatest political power in the Andes before Inca expansion. Its goldsmiths mastered gold and silver work with laminating, embossing and welding techniques. Chimú ceramics — black, burnished, mould-made — are recognisable by their metallic sheen and sculptural forms.
